The NSW Government’s decision to declare Wilton New Town as a Priority Growth Area has been welcomed by Bradcorp as it paves the way for the creation of the first new town in NSW for decades.Bradcorp Chief Executive Peter Brennan said the announcement by Planning Minister Rob Stokes and its gazetting today was welcome news for people looking forward to the opportunity to live in a brand new town with an abundance of lifestyle amenity and facilities.“This decision has been a long time coming and is a big step forward towards realising the vision for Wilton Junction in creating a special community where people are proud to live, work and call home,” said Mr Brennan.
“The creation of a new town at Wilton Junction will address issues of affordability and a diversity in housing supply that takes some of the pressure off Sydney and gives people hope for a future where they can live and raise families in an ideal and sustainable environment.
“We are not talking sprawl here but a distinct and carefully planned new satellite town in the Macarthur region, with homes and jobs and all the necessary infrastructure to support both a resident and working population.
“For the many people who are looking forward to the opportunity to live at Wilton Junction we can say with certainty that it won’t be long now.”
Under the masterplan, Wilton Junction will be a self contained community that will include a range of community, recreation, commercial, retail, health and education services as well as civic and cultural facilities. It will inject $7 billion into the local economy and provides for approximately 12,000 diverse and affordable homes and 11,000 jobs.
