In addition to preserving the natural bushland on the site, the ecological plan for the project included a 120-hectare nature reserve funded by the development and dedicated to an environmental trust.
Integral to the development was a commitment to environmental best practice. Bingara Gorge was named the HIA’s first Green Smart Advanced Estate and won the UDIA’s award for NSW’s Best Residential Development for its overall design, housing choice, facilities and environmental sustainability.
Intensive community, local and state government consultation, combined with quality master planning led by Bradcorp, presented an inspirational and compelling vision for this idyllic site, winning support for its rezoning for residential use in 2005.
Bradcorp consequently entered into a development agreement with Delfin Lend Lease (now Lend Lease) while retaining ownership of the land. Major infrastructure works began in the second half of 2006 and the first residential lots were released in 2007, with the Graham Marsh-designed golf course delivering recreational opportunities.
